Objectives:

  • Improve understanding of key principles, focusing on the first year of life.
  • Identify and describe essential milestones in human development.
  • Introduce the three levels of sensorimotor control for assessment and treatment.
  • Demonstrate the link between early development and adult locomotor system pathology.
  • Introduce terms like functional joint centration, punctum fixum/mobile, and the integrated spinal stabilizing system.
  • Define ideal stabilization, including intra-abdominal pressure regulation and the diaphragm’s dual role.
  • Identify common faulty postural stabilization patterns (e.g., “open scissors syndrome”).
  • Explain and demonstrate undifferentiated, ipsilateral, and contralateral postural-locomotion patterns.
  • Evaluate and correct poor respiratory patterns and their link to locomotor system pathology.
  • Assess the spine’s stabilizing system using visual and dynamic functional tests.
  • Integrate DNS-based corrective exercises, focusing on progression and increased difficulty.
  • Clarify how DNS exercises can complement other exercise strategies.
  • Cover basic DNS applications in sports training.
  • Provide clinical management insights for integrating DNS into regular practice and patient education.
  • Preparation for Course B: Prepare students for the next level of DNS training.
