Wellness Coaching

Wellness coaching is not a weight loss program. Weight issues are a symptom or a side effect of a much bigger issue occurring within the body. At Motus Integrative Health, we concentrate on the health and wellness of the individual, and weight loss is considered a bonus.

We live in a fast-paced, high-stress society and our bodies are overtaxed and struggle to keep up with our daily demands. We survive on too much coffee and not enough sleep. Studies show that high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, adrenal fatigue, thyroid issues, anxiety, and depression are at an all-time high, and yet so is the amount of money we are spending on “healthcare”. How can that be?

A few contributing factors may include:

  • Stress: The silent killer. Stress puts a strain on the heart and other vital organs, not to mention robs us of sleep and causes us to give in to cravings.
  • Diet: It is hard to determine what is really healthy and what isn’t with all the false advertising and claims we see on labels and on commercials. Fast food meals are more common than home-cooked meals because of convenience and lack of time. These meals contain far too much sugar, salt, artificial coloring, unhealthy fats, and gluten.
  • Lack of activity: We are more sedentary now than ever before! With computers taking over the world, we spend hours sitting in the same position staring at a screen, and for pleasure, we scroll through social media sights. We were made to move!
  • Lack of joy: We all want to do it all and have it all, right? Well, guess what. We are all setting ourselves up for failure because nobody can do it all and have it all. We all have to sacrifice something, and far too often we sacrifice joy. We have been brainwashed by the media into believing that choosing joy over productivity is selfish, which couldn’t be further from the truth!
  • Lack of (quality) sleep: How often do you get the recommended 7-8 hours of sleep? Or do you fall into the much more common category of 5-6 hours per night (if you are lucky!)? Is it quality sleep, or are you waking up several times because of feeling restless even though you are exhausted?
  • Emotional trauma: Sometimes our past controls are present. Emotions can mentally and physically prevent us from moving forward.

So, how can wellness coaching help with any of this? At Motus Integrative Health, we spend time discussing all aspects of your life from diet and exercise to social interactions and stress levels in order to get the full picture before attempting to help you start making changes to dramatically improve your quality of life.  We offer lab work to test for food or chemical sensitivities that may be causing dysfunction within your body, along with other labs to identify underlying issues. We offer accountability and support (and maybe a little tough love)as we peel away the layers until we find the real you that’s been hiding inside all along.
