The teenage years are crucial for developing not just academically or socially but physically, too. Teens undergo significant changes that contribute to their physical, cognitive, and emotional development. Recognizing and supporting these normal developmental milestones are pivotal in ensuring that teens grow into healthy, well-adjusted adults. This is where our expertise and commitment at Motus Integrative Health come into play, providing tailored assessments for these critical milestones and incorporating the Long Term Athletic Development (LTAD) Model to nurture athleticism and age-appropriate skills.
Developmental milestones during the teen years encompass various areas, including physical growth, motor skills, cognitive abilities, and emotional well-being. It’s a time when individuals start to demonstrate significant improvements in strength, coordination, and cognitive understanding, which allows them to grasp and master complex skills and concepts. At Motus Integrative Health, we conduct comprehensive assessments that track these milestones. These evaluations are designed to identify where teens are on their developmental trajectory, ensuring that any interventions or recommendations are perfectly aligned with their current stage of growth and maturity.
The Long Term Athletic Development Model serves as a framework within which we operate to support the athletic and physical development of teens. The LTAD Model is athlete-centered, coach-driven, and supported by administration, sport science, and sponsors. It outlines nine stages, from “Active Start” to “Active for Life,” each focusing on different aspects of development, such as fundamental motor skills, agility, balance, coordination, and speed.
At Motus Integrative Health, we employ this model to assess and optimize the development of young athletes. Recognizing that each teen is unique, we tailor our programs to match their developmental age and maturity level. By leveraging the optimal windows of trainability—stamina, strength, speed, skill, and suppleness—we’re able to design training regimens that maximize athletic potential while fostering a love for physical activity that can last a lifetime.
Our approach is deeply rooted in the principles of physical literacy and fundamental movement skills, ensuring that teen athletes develop a strong foundation for success. By offering specialized exercises and treatments, we strive to enhance mobility, resolve pain at its source, and support long-term health and athletic achievement. Our team, comprising skilled chiropractors, physical therapists, and coaches, provides personalized care that addresses each teen’s specific needs.
Furthermore, we believe in the power of education—for both athletes and coaches. By providing coach education, we ensure that proper techniques are taught and supervised by informed and experienced professionals. This education extends to helping parents and teens understand the significance of each developmental milestone and the rationale behind each aspect of their training program.
At Motus Integrative Health, our mission is to guide teens through their developmental milestones with a focus on optimizing athleticism and nurturing age-appropriate skills. Through our comprehensive assessments and the strategic application of the LTAD Model, we are committed to supporting the holistic development of young athletes. Whether it’s achieving peak performance on the field or simply engaging in physical activities that bring joy, we are here to enhance the well-being and athletic potential of every teen we serve. We invite parents and their teen athletes to explore how Motus Integrative Health can be part of their journey toward achieving their full potential, both athletically and personally.
