Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release

At Motus Integrative Health, we understand that patients with chronic pain often wish to learn the core cause of their symptoms and see what needs to be done to eliminate it. We offer a wide variety of holistic services geared towards your individual wellness needs. No matter how big or small your goals are, our services support you every step of the way. Myofascial release is one of our most popular treatments for those with muscle pain. Many forms of muscle pain originate in the fascia, or the tight bands covering the muscles. Our specialized massage techniques can naturally lower the tension.

What is Myofascial Release?

Do you frequently suffer from sore, stiff muscles? Myofascial release can provide much-needed relief. It’s a form of physical therapy that treats myofascial pain syndrome, a chronic condition triggered by sensitivity in the fascia, the connective tissues that support your muscles. Typically, pain starts in specific locations known as trigger points. The condition can result in the following symptoms:

  • Soreness, especially when moving
  • Stiffness
  • Muscle cramps
  • Spasms
  • Tenderness when pressing on a trigger point

Fortunately, many patients find relief through our chiropractic approach. Our chiropractors and massage therapists administer myofascial release to help our patients manage their chronic pain. The treatment works much like a massage but is much more intense than the kind you would receive at a spa. Essentially, we use a hands-on approach to gently kneed any trigger points, or knots, in the muscles. This involves applying pressure to the area affected.

How Myofascial Release Can Help

Myofascial Release is a gentle blend of massage and stretching that uses traction, pressure, and positioning of the body to relax muscle spasms and break up painful adhesions in the fascia. At Motus Integrative Health in Northwest Indiana, we use Myofascial Release techniques to ease pressure in the fibrous bands of fascia that encase and connect muscles, organs, vessels, bones, cartilage and nerves throughout the body.
