Active Release Techniques

Active Release Techniques

Do your muscles ache? Most of us use the same motions over and over with our bodies — whether the movement is right or wrong. A repetitive motion will soon eventually cause pain in the muscle or soft tissue, like a joint, ligament or fascia. What can you do to stop the aches and pains?

There are options to help reduce your aches and pains, and one option that has become very popular in America is the Active Release Technique (ART). ART is a patented, state-of-the-art, soft tissue massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and nerves. The goal of ART is to shorten the tissue through manipulation, then add more pressure and finally lengthen the tissue.

How Does ART Work?

Your chiropractor will use his or her hands to evaluate the texture, tightness, and movement of all your muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments and nerves. Typically scar tissue forms in the area where a patient has pain and tenderness. These trouble areas are treated using precise pressure and movement to loosen and elongate the area. The result is less pain and more range of motion. ART practitioners have a good sense of anatomy and use that knowledge to make you feel better by manipulating the soft tissues that are causing you pain.

At Motus Integrative Health, we are committed to your well being. Our mission is to help you reach every goal and milestone that you can think of, whether it be getting rid of your pain or climbing a mountain. We use ART to help you achieve that goal and make it a reality.

Ask about ART if you have the following conditions:

What Happens After ART is Completed?

After you have completed your ART sessions, you will receive a list of exercises that will help you prevent more soft tissue injuries. These exercises will help you with flexibility, strength, and balance. Yoga and tai chi are excellent disciplines to practice when you have soft tissue ailments. By exercising, you will increase your flexibility, strength, and balance, allowing you to move your body more effectively and pain-free.
