Active Release Technique (ART) is a therapy used to treat soft-tissue ailments for Dyer patients. It was created by Dr. P. Michael Leahy, a former Air Force engineer who became a chiropractor when he left the service. He began his chiropractic therapies with elite athletes who suffered from soft-tissue conditions. The athletes wanted to get their conditions under control and back on the field in optimal shape.
Soft tissue is everything that connects, supports and surrounds the organs and other structures of your body such as fascia, joints, muscles, and tendons. A hard tissue is a bone. When soft tissue is compromised, the area becomes very painful and sensitive to touch.
One of the best techniques is Active Release Technique. ART is a technique that manipulates the soft tissue to quicken natural healing and relieve the acute pain that accompanies soft tissue injuries. Many professional sports players, Olympic athletes, and Ironman competitors use Active Release Technique to help them recover from soft-tissue ailments quicker. At Motus Integrative Health, we are trained to use Active Release Technique and recommend and use it for our Dyer patients who suffer from soft-tissue illnesses.
Researchers have discovered over 200 connective tissue disorders. Each of the disorders is unique and can be classified as genetic, autoimmune or cancer. Some diseases include:
